Script

Script, formally known as “Hades” first got into electronic music in the mid 1980’s growing up listening to breakbeat driven music like Electro.

In the late 80’s he purchased an album called Northern House where he first heard the seminal track Voodoo Ray by A Guy Called Gerald. From that day Script tried to find where he could listen to that style of music with like minded people. He found his weekend home at places like Crazy Club & Fantasy @ Astoria, Breakfast Club @ Buzzby’s, Orange @ The Rocket and various other well known venues which were happy to push the sound of Hardcore music. During these events Script became fascinated about the art of dj-ing and purchased his first set of turntables and a mixer. He was regularly found at certain stalls in Camden market on a Saturday or Sunday morning buying records that he had heard the previous night at these clubs. He has continued to purchase vinyl since then and has a vast collection of Acid/Hardcore/Jungle/DnB and UKG.

It was at these parties where he hooked up with his old friend, Now Legendary DJ Crystl (Deejay Recordings/Lucky Spin) and with his best friend “Osiris” became more interested in the actual production side of the music.

Eventually in Early 1994 after seeing the success of DJ Crystl and getting to meet Pete Parsons (Voyager), Script & Osiris decided to take the plunge and pay a small fortune to buy their own hardware including what was brand new technology at the time, an AKAI S3000XL, Novation Bass Station, Yamaha SY85 Synth and a few more items.

After a couple of years, due to personal circumstances Script had to call a halt to the production of music for while, although he kept in touch with artists that he had met along the way and made sure that he kept purchasing vinyl and keeping an eye on where the music was going.

In The late 90’s Script started to explore other forms of electronic music including UK Garage, which ended up taking up a lot of his interest during this “golden” period of UKG. Due to this he managed to get a dj slot on NW London’s biggest pirate UKG station at the time “LUSH FM” and got a prime time slot of 12am-2am every Saturday night / Sunday morning. It was during this time that he started to get the production bug again and got his old buddy DJ Crystl to do a couple of sessions with him to try and make a UKG tune that had a lot of Drum and Bass elements to it. The result was a tune called “The Jerk” which became a bit of an anthem in the NW London UKG parties where he played alongside DJs like Luck, EZ, Spooney and Maddex.

Through Lush FM, Script got introduced to the management at Flex FM where he was offered a slot on Friday nights playing Drum and Bass and would regularly join Merlin for his old skool hardcore sets on Sunday nights. Via Flex FM, Script attained bookings at such venues like Hidden in Vauxhall as well as dj-ing at parties regularly in the local area.

Fast Forward a few years and Script meets one of his now co-production partners FD through an old DJ friend @ Flex FM (Subterra).A good friendship developed between them and a keen interest in each other’s musical taste drove them to start to collaborate on a few tunes together before finally creating “White Horse” which was instantly picked up by Total Science for CIA Deepkut and was released in June 2010 to high acclaim.
Script & FD have also just had their 2nd joint effort “Sent Down” signed to one of Drum and Bass’s most prolific and well respected labels : Critical. This will see a release on Kasra’s Critical Modulations imprint early 2011.It has had support from DJs like Kasra, Ulterior Motive, Zero T & DJ Lee.

Another of Script’s collaborators is the mighty Zero T. Together they wrote one of the dancefloor smashers of 2010 “Guessing Games” which was released on Zero T’s Label, Footprints in December 2010. It has been getting wide DJ support from artists like Icicle, Teebee, Jubei, Ulterior Motive, Alix Perez, Rockwell, Ant TC1 and Bailey who has featured the tune several times on his Radio 1Xtra show.
